MISSION TO HAITI: JOURNAL

In Haiti from Feb 21, 2010 to March 06, 2010: First time in Haiti since the earthquake.

Carole's self-assigned mission is to document the relief efforts organized by a Haitian grassroots organization, ORE (Organization for the Rehabilitation of the Environment) and see for herself how Haitian victims of the earthquake are faring. She employed the first weeks following the earthquake at doing fund raisers in Albuquerque NM, raising for ORE some $4,000 from the sale of her photographs. More fund raisers are planned in NM during the year, to benefit ORE and PATCH-Haiti.

ORE is an international NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) with over 20 years experience in rural Haiti, based in Camp Perrin in the south of the country. It is run by friends of tour leader Carole Devillers and is a reliable and trustworthy organization. The NGO has been established since 1986 both in Haiti and Florida (as 501c non profit organization) working in social, environmental and agricultural activities sponsored by the European Union, La Cooperation Francaise, USAID, The Inter-American Development Bank and many others. Please refer to its website for more details: www.oreworld.org.
